Sally
Rutledge, born 1946, grew up in the
midwest US; Kalamazoo, Michigan to be exact. She pursued all
the various arts, but even in these early years, watercolor
was her favorite medium. In her late teens and early adult life
Sally's university studies centered around training in the classical
arts and she began exhibiting seriously at this time. Living
in different areas from the East and West coasts to Guatemala
added unique qualities to her palate.
For many years Sally devoted much of her time and energy to
parenting. Within this task came the study, and many years of
Waldorf teaching - based on Anthroposophy, a spiritual science
of Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. This led to Goethe's
theory of color where new spiritual meaning entered the art
of painting.
